Agensys and Seattle Genetics Expand Collaboration

The Santa Monica-based Agensys will pay a $12 million fee for exclusive rights to antibody-drug conjugate licenses against additional antigen targets. "Combining Agensys' proprietary antibodies, directed to novel cancer targets, with Seattle Genetics' industry-leading ADC technology has already led to product candidates for different cancer indications, including ASG-5ME, an ADC for cancers including prostate, pancreatic and gastric that is being co-developed by both companies," said Aya Jakobovits, Ph.D., Executive Vice President and Head of Research and Development of Agensys (photo right). Spectrum and Handok Collaborate on Apaziquone
 
Spectrum Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (Irvine, Calif.), a commercial stage biotechnology company with a primary focus in oncology, and Handok Pharmaceuticals Co., Ltd., a fully integrated Korean pharmaceutical company, announced a collaboration for the development and commercialization of apaziquone in South Korea. Apaziquone is an antineoplastic agent currently being investigated for the treatment of non-muscle invasive bladder cancer by intravesical instillation.... Read more

Calhoun Vision Names Gordon H. Busenbark as Chief Financial Officer

The Pasadena-based IOL developer announced that Busenbark will join Calhoun after serving as CFO at Xytis Pharmaceuticals. Prior to Xytis, he was CFO of Encysive Pharmaceuticals, where he was responsible for raising in excess of $100 million in debt and equity financing. Busenbark started his career with Baxter Healthcare. During 23 years with the company, he held a number of senior-level financial, operational and general management positions in both the U.S. and Europe. These included the roles of Chief Financial Officer of Austria-based Immuno AG, when the company was acquired by Baxter, and President of Baxter's global Plasma Therapeutics business ... Read more
