Dr. Murthy Simhambhatla, President and Chief Executive Officer of SetPoint Medical, will serve as the Dinner Keynote Speaker during the first day of the 27th Annual SoCalBio Investor & Partnership Conference coming on October 1st & 2nd at Hyatt Regency in Newport Beach, CA.
SetPoint just received FDA approval for their device treating rheumatoid arthritis. This device stimulates the vagus nerve and offers a new non-pharmaceutical approach to managing RA by reducing inflammation. This breakthrough has catapulted SetPoint Medical to the forefront of both the national and international news cycle, thus Murthy’s talk will be eagerly anticipated.
Murthy Simhambhatla was formerly the President and Chief Executive Officer of Evolus, a medical aesthetics company with a lead biologic drug, DWP-450, which he led towards an IPO in 2018. Prior to Evolus, Dr. Simhambhatla was a Senior Vice President at Abbott Laboratories and President of Abbott Medical Optics, a $1B-plus global ophthalmic business focused on cataract and refractive surgery.

Cohen, an Accredited public company director, independent board member, and venture partner, will serve as the Luncheon Keynote Speaker on the second day of the Southern California Biomedical Council (SoCalBio) 27th Annual Investor & Partnership Conference coming on October 1st & 2nd at Hyatt Regency in Newport Beach, CA.
Raymond W. Cohen, a veteran executive whose career spans more than four decades of company-building and public offerings across the MedTech landscape. From inception in 2013 until late November 2024, Cohen served as CEO of Nasdaq-listed Axonics, Inc., a medical device company he co-founded with implantable neurostimulation technologies to treat bladder and bowel disorders. Axonics was acquired by Boston Scientific Corp in November 2024 for $3.7 billion. In 2021, he was honored with the SoCalBio Lifetime Entrepreneurial Achievement Award for his contributions to medical technology.
In early March 2025, as chairman of the board for SoniVie, Ltd., a venture backed Israeli-based company developing adevice treatment for hypertension, Cohen arranged for a sale of SoniVie to Boston Scientific for $600 million.
Cohen currently serves on the board of Kestra Medical Technologies, Inc., (Nasdaq: KMTS), InspireMD (Nasdaq: NSPR), RxSight (Nasdaq: RXST), PE-backed Spectrum Vascular, as Chairman of privately held Nalu Medical and Archimedes Vascular and privately held Tulavi Therapeutics. Cohen also serves as a venture partner to Andera Partners based in Paris and Sherpa Capital based in Beijing.
