Objective
SoCalBio’s Workforce Development and talent development mission is “to help build a sustainable and growing workforce by strengthening linkages between the life science industries, academic & training institutions in the Greater Los Angeles Region.”

- Comprehensive human resource solutions with TriNet
- Seminars on changes in labor law
- Southern California BioGENEius Challenge:
- Selecting outstanding Southern California high school students to compete on an international stage with some of the brightest scientific minds in the world during the Annual International BIO Convention.

- SoCalBio provides industry guidance to local colleges on how to adjust curricula to meet industry needs:
- Conducting industry surveys to identify company talent needs
- Serving on industry advisory boards of local colleges, such as Mission College, North Orange County Community College District, Moorpark College, and Ventura College; and workforce development institutions, such as LA City WEDD
- Designing Specific programs to meet industry needs. Initiatives include:
- Help launching a Biomanufacturing Technician Training Program for entry-level job seekers at Los Angeles Valley College
- Supporting LATTC’s Bioprocessing Technician Training Program
- Help launching the micro-assembly technician training program at College of the Canyons
- Supporting the creation of the Biotechnology Professional Master’s Program at the Cal State University System
- Supporting programs for lab technician training at various community colleges in Southern California through partnership with LA/Orange County Biotechnology Center

- Through its Workforce Summit, SoCalBio provides a forum for bioscience company executives, workforce development professionals, educators, and public policy makers to network and exchange information.
